Our client, a local non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation that implements programmes to improve children’s wellbeing in Zambia through advocacy requires a versatile, dynamic, self-motivated, highly credible and suitably qualified individual to fill the position of;
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Reporting to the Board Chairperson, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Reporting to the Board Chairperson, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Overall strategic leadership of the organisation responsible for planning, organisation, and direction of the institution’s operations and effective implementation of programmes from design to evaluation;
- Provide leadership on matters relating to staff establishment, recruitment, staff welfare and provide appropriate support to all departments;
- Provide overall staff supervision, retain a diverse, highly qualified team of staff and volunteers;
- Initiate and coordinate development of systems and operational initiatives that ensure that the institution’s funding and programmes are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives;
- Ensure that the institution’s assets and financial resources are accounted for and utilised properly in a transparent manner following acceptable international standards;
- Be the main representative of the organization, charged with guiding relevant programme strategy development and implementation;
- Lead, coordinate and manage all relationships with cooperating partners, other civil society organisations, public interest groups and government;
- Lead the resource mobilization effort for operational execution and organizational sustainability;
- Supervise all aspects of compliance with statutory obligations and all contractual agreements;
- Report to the Board of Directors on a regular basis on the implementation of programmatic and operational progress, and risks related to the implementation of the organization’s strategy;
- Ensure the implementation and regular review of a robust Monitoring and Evaluation System and mechanism that will encourage inclusive and participatory approaches to determining results of the organization’s interventions and embrace learning for growth of the organisation;
- Perform any other function relevant to the office or as maybe assigned by the Board of Directors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND ATTRIBUTES
- Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in any social sciences.
- Added Qualifications: Degree or diploma in project management, post graduate diploma or certificate in human rights in general and child rights in particular.
- Experience: Ten (10) years or more in a non-governmental not for profit preferably child rights sector organisation at senior operational management level.
- Knowledge of international, regional and national human and child rights frameworks.
- Knowledge of human resources management, financial management and programme/project management.
- Knowledge in advocacy.
- Skills in team building, coalition building, stakeholder management and coordination.
- Excellent writing skills for different audiences including for children, policy makers and the public. .
